Les Trois Vallees / The Three Valleys
Les Trois Vallees are home to eight internationally renowned ski resorts, boasting some of the finest slopes. It is the largest ski area in the world and provides access to 600 km of pistes and 200 ski lifts. Many skiers regard The Three Valleys as the greatest of intermediate playgrounds.
The Three Valleys offer extensive slopes to suit all levels and abilities, and offer excellent conditions throughout the ski season. Meribel, Courchevel, La Tania, Les Menuires and Val Thorens form a massive ski-linked area which is the most popular location in the region. The Saint-Bon Vallee, where the resort of Moriond is located, is the most picturesque resort of the region with vast tree lined slopes. Bellville Vallee and the resort of Val Thorens is located on the Western side of Les Trois Vallees, which boasts peaks that exceed a height of 3000m. As well as ski, there are lots of alternative activities on offer all year round and Les Trois Vallees is home to great après ski and quality restaurants.

Les Portes du Soleil
Les Portes du Soleil is a vast region of 14 interconnected ski resorts in the Alpes, situated between Lake Geneva, Switzerland and Mont Blanc, France, offering 650km of ski slopes. Ski resorts in this region include Les Gets, St Jean d’Alps, Chatel, Montriond, Abondance and Chapelle d’Abondance, the majority of which are small to medium sized resorts. The best known and also the largest resort is Morzine which sits underneath Avoriaz, the highest of the resorts in the Portes du Soleil region, offering guaranteed ski conditions even in milder climates.
The 650 km of ski covering 14 resorts comprises over 200 different pistes of varying standards. Not only does the region cater particularly well for advanced skiers and snowboarders, but there are also a selection of slopes for beginners and intermediate skiers at all resorts. The region offers excellent ski conditions well into April and the best ski is said to be in the spring time when snowfall is good coupled with fantastic blue skies. The resort becomes a very different place during the summer months with hiking and biking on offer as well as lots of shops, restaurants and bars to choose from.

Le Grand Massif
Le Grand Massif region is situated in the heart of Haute-Savoie between Geneva and Chamonix and comprises 5 resorts offering 265km of ski runs with spectacular views of Mont Blanc. It is France’s fourth biggest ski area.
The 5 resorts: Sixt, Samoens, Flaine, Morillon and Les Carroz, are closely linked and boast 134 pistes of varying levels and 80 ski lifts. The region offers 15 black runs and lots of off piste for the experienced skiers but there are a total of 97 blue and red runs for the beginner and intermediate level skiers. There is a vast amount of varied terrain also on offer with a half pipe and a snowboard park for the boarders. The highest point is at 2,500m, with a total vertical descent of 20,000m. The resort is well catered for after hours with plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.

Chamonix Valley & Mont Blanc region
The Chamonix Valley is made up of 11 areas in total and offers some of the most varied terrain and exceptional skiing in France. Cutting through Europe's highest mountains and glaciers, the views are breath taking and the valley offers something for all levels of skiers and boarders, including off piste for the real experts. Situated in the heart of the French Alpes, close to where the French, Swiss and Italian borders meet, it is easily accessible by road, rail and air (about an hour from Geneva airport) and is an ideal location for a last minute weekend of skiing. The area is a mix of traditional and new buildings and Chamonix itself is a long-established tourist town, dominated by the 3842m Aiguille du Midi reached by the cable car from the southern side of the town. For the experienced skier, this offers 22km descent all the way back into Chamonix. On the other side of the valley is the towns main skiing which caters for novice and intermediate skiers. At the head of the valley, le Tour offers some good novice terrain as well as rewarding runs on the Col de Balme and a long descent to Vallorcine. Nearby, The Grands Montets and Le Tour both offer terrain parks for snowboarders. For the expert skiers who like the powdery runs and off pistes, the Pas de Chevre is a Chamonix classic. It offers a run from the top of Bochard via one of several extreme couloirs down to the Mer de Glace.
There are plenty of resorts in the Mont Blanc region to choose from, all offering good skiing, facilities and activities plus most offer great rental potential all year round as the area attracts plenty of walkers and hikers in the summer. The resorts range from bigger spa towns such as St Gervais to the small traditional resorts such as Les Houches

Pyrenees
The Pyrenees mountain range offer gentle ski conditions which are perfect for beginners who are learning how to ski or snow board. The Pyrenees are located in between France and Spain with several resorts available for skiers of all levels.
Andorra, the most famous of the resorts in this region is in France and has undergone dramatic €160 million regeneration over recent years and is no longer positioned as a bargain basement ski resort. The most popular area in Andorra is the village of Arinsal which has easy access to some beginner and low intermediate pistes. Arinsal and the linked ski area of Pal have now joined forces with the valley town of La Massana and the ski area of Ordino-Arcalis which forms the single lift pass region of Vallnord. Andorra boasts 89km of pistes with 38 ski lifts in total. The slopes are at an altitude of 2624m and are excellent for beginners and intermediate skiing and snowboarding. Andorra offers some great après ski, restaurants and shopping and is good value for money.
